In today's Investigation, students explored creating a table from a graph and then interpreting data from both sources. Having an understanding of the benefits and disadvantages to analyzing data from both a table and a graph are essential pieces to 7th grade math this year! These questions will appear many times throughout this topic, as well as, later in the school year. So, be sure you have a solid idea of why each organizational tool is effective and not so effective when analyzing data. Challenge math went a step further today to talk about the pros and cons of using narrative form in data collection and description.

Tomorrow classes will begin Investigation 2. In this Investigation students will continue analyzing data with the use of graphs and tables. They will be thinking of ways to help our 5 friends: Celia, Sidney, Liz, Malcolm, and Theo make their bike tour business the most success possible!

Reminders:

Students need to be sure to come to class prepared (every day) with their graph paper, pencil, book, and binder (and any homework or papers that need to be turned in). If students continue to arrive unprepared, a phone call will be made home and students will be issued a detention.

Today's homework:
Hours 3-8 ONLY: p. 13 A-F

Tomorrow is an early release day and we will have a shortened schedule! We are having a FUN assembly at the beginning of the day!!! I'm so pumped about the FUN FUN FUN activities we will be doing...hope you will like it!!! :-)

Also: remember to...
~Redo any assignments necessary (you have one week to redo work in math)
~KEEP STUDYING THOSE MATH FACTS...you could have another timed test any day now :-) :-) :-)

Question of the Day: The maximum speed of a zebra is 40 miles per hour. At this speed, how long would it take the zebra to run one mile?

Good luck my savvy students!!! Remember, the first student to answer the Question of the Day correctly will get a small prize from me the next day! :-)

at 60 mph it takes approximemtly 1 min so at 40 mph you take20 mph off and so you add 20 seconds and it will be 80 sec

i divided 60/40 becaue there are 60min. in an hour and the zebra can run 40mph. soo i got 1.5 and put it the way it should go time wise so the 1 is 1min. and half of 60 is 30 so i came up with 1min 30sec.

it would take it 1min and 30 seconds
because if you keep dividing 40mph and 60 min in half until they get to 10mph in 15m then take the zero off of the 1 and move the 15 right one decimal

it would run 1 mile in 1.5 min

this is how i got it, if you keep dividing 40mph and 60 min in half until they get to 10mph in 15m then take the zero off of the 1 and move the 15 right one decimal
