Wonderful Wednesday

Challenge students moved into writing rules and equations from a pattern today and will continue working on this concept tomorrow (lesson 3.1). Regular math students reviewed lesson 2.2 as it was difficult for many students.

I will not be here tomorrow and all students have been informed of this. Please remember that if your name appears on the sub's notes (for negative behaviors) that results in an automatic/no-questions asked detention. Please be sure to be on your best behavior and help show our guests that Hollebeck truly is THE BEST!!! There will not be a blog post tomorrow...no question of the day...sorry! :-(

Reminders:

Don't forget about the "No Missing Work" Challenge going on this week at Hollenbeck! Be sure to have all missing assignments in by this Friday so you can attend the celebritory event next week!

**Everett's collection has been extended until Friday, September 21st**
From Friday, September 14-Wednesday, September 19 we will be raising money for Everett Gotway's Memorial. We were deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Hollenbeck family members and would like to purchase a bench and plaque in his honor. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Students need to be sure to come to class prepared (every day) with their graph paper, pencil, book, and binder (and any homework or papers that need to be turned in). If students continue to arrive unprepared, a phone call will be made home and students will be issued a detention.

Today's homework:

Challenge: None **Challenge's Test on Variables & Patterns is next Friday, September 28th** -Study Guides were handed out TODAY!-

All other classes: Worksheet p. 9 only (NOT p. 13)

Also: remember to...
~Redo any assignments necessary (you have one week to redo work in math)
~KEEP STUDYING THOSE MATH FACTS...you could have another timed test any day now :-) :-) :-)

Question of the Day: How many years will it take to spend one million dollars if you spend one hundred dollars each day?

Good luck my savvy students!!! Remember, the first student to answer the Question of the Day correctly will get a small prize from me the next day! :-)

Emily from 2nd hour- The answer would be about 27 years. I took 1 million and divided it by 100 to get 10,000 days then divide 10,000 by 365 days (because that's how many days are in a year, you probably know) and got 27.397260273972602 :) so I rounded down to about 27 years

HI Mrs. Kohr, It's Nicole! I think that the answer to todays question is 10,000 days.

I did 100 times 10,000 and got 1,000,000 days.

Wow guys/gals...I have lots to answer, huh...Amie I will try to help you with E here...(hope you check this)...the key to making that graph is to recognize that they are asking you to show what area is REMAINING (that's the key word in the question). So they said you start off with 120 square km and in the first year you used 10 square km so on the graph in E, your first point would be at 2000 (x-axis) and 110 square km(y-axis). In 2001 it shows they used 10 square km again so you will go to your graph in E and ten less than 110 is 100, so your next point will be 2001 (x-axis) and 100 square km(y-axis). For the third year, 2002, the graph in A shows that they used 15 square km, so in E, 15 more square km being USED will take you from 100 square km remaining to 85 square km remaining so your third point should be 2002 (x-axis) and 85 square km (y-axis). Does this help a little??? Make sense??? If not, we will talk on Friday when I return from the funeral. Great job using your resources to get help Amie...sorry last night and today have been a little hectic (usually I would be able to get to you a lot quicker...promise!)...please forgive!

All of you that got 27 years as the answer to the question of the day, you are correct and be sure to check out Emily's strategy as she explained her thinking REALLY well (she is i-love-pigies).

Carrie, absolutely not! :-) Just show up...I AM SUPER DUPER EXCITED YOU WANT TO JOIN!!! THIS CLUB IS GOING TO ROOOOOOOOOOOOCK!!! :-)
